Synopsis
The documentary "The Playground" revolves around the Shu Dajun incident. Chengdu Bamboo School advocates innovative education that emphasizes "growing upwards and taking root downwards," but the camera focuses on the Hengshui-style military training of children on the playground: uniformity and strict discipline. This contrast cleverly dismantles the implicit misunderstanding of Shu Dajun among parents, teachers, and even the public—they agree on growth in theory, but rely on control in practice. The rift between ideals and reality erupted into conflict in less than six months, and the phrase "Welcoming 2026" in the film thus becomes the most ironic footnote.
