Synopsis
A child struggles to move forward while carrying an extremely heavy school backpack, while also facing ridicule and rejection from peers. When another child chooses to stand beside them, the burden begins to be shared — both literally and symbolically. Together, they walk toward school, highlighting the power of empathy, acceptance, and companionship.
The students Elina Athanassaki, Anna Vidaki,Anna-Maria Daskalaki, Nafsika Kalogeraki, Antonella Tzetza and Marilena Tsoumbleka of the 8th Gymnasium of Heraklion, together with teachers Giorgos Lagoudianakis (Arts Education, PE08) and Ourania Sfakianaki (Science Education, PE04.04), during the school year 2025–2026, developed and brought to life the original idea of ICT teacher Stella Pitarokili, which emerged from a class discussion on mental health and resilience.
The film was created using stop-motion animation, featuring handmade clay characters and paper-built sets.
The film emphasizes the importance of support, acceptance, and the strength of “togetherness,” especially in the challenges of school life.
