Synopsis
Dominic lives in the Indigenous community of Fregon in the APY Lands in the Australian Outback, while Frankie attends the German School in Melbourne. In this documentary, both students guide the audience through their everyday lives. Dominic shows his school, his community and the vast landscape of his homeland, where his father works. In contrast, Frankie shares her daily routine in Melbourne, moving between school, friends and life in a large Australian city.
Moving between a remote Indigenous community and a multicultural urban environment, the film follows the rhythms of two very different childhoods within the same country. Through school days, family life and time after class, both students introduce the places and people that shape their lives.
"Students of the World - Australia" is part of the international documentary project "Students of the World", which portrays the everyday lives of children in different countries through their own perspectives. Each documentary follows students from one country and allows them to tell their own stories without narration or commentary. Together, these independent films form a growing collection that invites audiences to experience the diversity of childhood and school life around the world.
