Synopsis
The application video I filmed《The missing star》explores the cruel fate of former child stars who, after
a youth spent in the glare of fame and praise, find themselves discarded by an industry that constantly
refreshes itself. Unable to bear the silence and public indifference, they feel compelled to create
buzz—whether good or bad—to claw their way back into the spotlight.
This is the story of Nora. She stages her own kidnapping, fakes self-harm, and pins the blame on
her assistant—all desperate maneuvers to escape being forgotten. Her assistant, however, is also
acting, participating in livestreams, offering defenses, and finally turning against her. Together, they
play the media and public sentiment, competing for the crumbs of attention until their mutual
distrust shatters the partnership.
Performance has consumed Nora’s very being. Even practicing lines late at night or breaking down
in front of her wardrobe, she performs for an audience only she can see. Her meltdowns and
revenge feel authentic only through a lens. When the truth comes out, she escalates the
performance into real self-harm, hoping this “sincerity” will make the public believe she never lied—even
though the entire scheme was her creation.
In the end, Nora dreams she walks a red carpet through a hospital hallway, swept by camera flashes
and falling feathers—the heaven she always imagined. Yet in reality, she lies comatose, no longer
able to tell illusion from truth. In this world of trauma and ambition, no one is purely innocent. One
can be both victim and perpetrator, and human nature defies any simple division between right and
wrong.
